Southern Oregon Joins the Movement
May Update – Saving Our Children Campaign – We are thrilled to announce that the Saving Our Children campaign is now active in Southern Oregon! With our mission to empower young people and combat the growing epidemic of drug and substance abuse, expanding our reach to this region is a significant step forward. By educating and supporting the youth in Southern Oregon, we aim to create a brighter and healthier future for our children.
Perseverance Matters
A woman who persevered through adversity to achieve her dreams
Wilma Rudolph was an American track and field athlete who overcame a childhood of poverty and illness to become one of the most successful runners in history.
Born in 1940 in Tennessee, Rudolph was the 20th of 22 children. She suffered from various illnesses as a child, including polio, which left her with a brace on her left leg. Despite these setbacks, Rudolph was determined to succeed.
At the age of 9, Rudolph began physical therapy, and by 12, she had shed her brace and was able to walk without assistance. She began playing basketball in high school and was quickly recruited to the track team.
At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Rudolph won three gold medals, becoming the first American woman to achieve this feat. She set world records in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, and her performances helped to inspire a generation of female athletes.
Rudolph’s perseverance and dedication to her sport made her a role model for young people around the world. She went on to become a teacher and coach, and she continued to inspire others until her death in 1994.
Rudolph’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity. Despite facing significant obstacles, she refused to give up on her dreams and became a true champion.
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Thomas Edison
This quote highlights the importance of perseverance in achieving one’s goals. Edison, who is known for his countless failed attempts before successfully inventing the light bulb, understood that success often requires persistence and determination. By not giving up in the face of setbacks and obstacles, we can ultimately achieve great things.
A lesson we can all learn from.

A Final Thought
A future without drugs means our children can focus on developing healthy relationships, pursuing their passions, and achieving their dreams. They’ll have better physical and mental health, stronger connections with family and friends, and increased academic and career success. By educating them about the dangers of drugs and substance abuse, we can help them build a bright and fulfilling future.
