Saving Our Children Campaign Overview

How do drugs and substance abuse affect our society and individual lives?

Drugs

For the sake of this discussion, the word drugs encompass illicit drugs, prescription drugs, and legal substances such as alcohol, cannabis, marijuana, and tobacco products.

The Problem

In the United States, drug and substance abuse is a national disaster.

As you may know, the drug overdose death rate has increased by more than 400% over the past 20 years. Projections are that it will increase by more than 50% in just the next five years. And that doesn’t include the more than half a million people who die from tobacco, alcohol, and prescription drug abuse.

According to Pew Research, nearly 70% of Americans view drug abuse and addiction as a major problem facing our country.

The Solution

The Saving Our Children campaign is a multi-media effort designed to educate the public about drug and substance abuse. More importantly, the campaign targets preteens because they are the group that is most at risk.

Past Educational-Entertainment efforts have shown dramatic reductions in drug use.

The Campaign

The 2023 Campaign centers around a television program based on a true story of a young man, how he is drawn into drugs, and where it takes him. The show will be broadcast and available on the internet. It will be promoted on television, radio, print, poster, social media, and with other forms of marketing. The story will also be told in a 32-page comic distributed to schools, libraries, family centers, and sponsors throughout each broadcast area.
