Saving Our Children Update – 3: Big News of the Week
The last two weeks have absolutely flown by.
Last week we sent out announcements to all the mayors in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura Counties.
The week before last, we sent follow-ups to the Presidents and CEOs of all the chambers in the same area.
Last week we contacted several hundred business owners to announce the campaign.
Saturday we published the third article in our series In Search of Leadership – Mayors. The theme is simply, why is this problem been growing exponentially for the past 40 years?
The third article calls on the doctors whom we depend on to keep our kids healthy. We will follow up by contacting key physicians in our area.
No Idle Hands Here
In the coming week, we will continue to send out fund-raising requests to influential Californians, Native American tribal leaders, business leaders, and the medical community. In addition, we are executing a direct mail campaign aimed at the Governors of every state and medical community.
Perseverance
Stephen King is one of the most successful and prolific authors of our time, with over 60 novels and 200 short stories to his name. But his rise to fame was not without its challenges.
In 1973, King was a struggling writer living in a trailer with his wife, Tabitha. He had been working on a novel called “Carrie” for several years, but after several rejections from publishers, he had lost faith in the project.
One day, frustrated with his lack of progress, King crumpled up the pages of his manuscript and threw them in the trash. He thought the book was garbage and didn’t see any hope for it.
Fortunately for King, his wife Tabitha had faith in his writing and saw something special in “Carrie.” She retrieved the pages from the trash and read them, convinced that the book was worth pursuing.
Tabitha encouraged King to keep working on the book, and eventually, they were able to submit it to a publisher. The book was accepted, and in 1974, “Carrie” was published.
The book was an immediate hit, selling over one million copies in its first year and launching King’s career as a successful author. The story of a young girl with telekinetic powers who is pushed to her limits by cruel classmates and a religiously fanatical mother resonated with readers, and the book was soon adapted into a successful movie.
King has since gone on to write many more bestsellers, but “Carrie” remains a classic and a testament to the power of perseverance and belief in oneself. Without the faith and support of his wife, King may have given up on the book entirely and missed out on the opportunity to become one of the most beloved authors of all time.
An Encouraging Word About Our Work
In a world where there are countless challenges and struggles, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless to make a difference. However, there is one cause that’s worth the effort, and that is the Saving Our Children Campaign.
Children are the future, and it’s up to us to ensure that they have the best possible chance to thrive and succeed. We are dedicated to improving the lives of children by helping them understand why drugs and substance abuse are not only dangerous but will have a lasting effect on the quality of their lives. By providing accurate information and showing them a better way, young people will be able to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. The Saving Our Children campaign is committed to empowering young people to lead happy, healthy, and productive lives.
