April Update – Saving Our Children Update
Big News of the Week
April Update – Saving Our Children Update – Big News of the Week. Last week was another busy one. And then it happened.
I completely forgot I had signed up for a four-day Tony Robins training. So Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or last week I immersed myself in the program. It’s called Unleash the Power Within. It wasn’t my first dance with Tony but it came at a good time. It was a virtual event. I was one of 40,000 people in the audience. It was a very intense program to look within and unleash the power that already exists in each of us. I highly recommend it.
I walked away from it with a new perspective and resolve for what we are doing.
And now, I would like to share some of those things with you.
Welcome to the Team
One of the things Tony talked about was the value of a team. Surrounding yourself with people who know more than you about the things you need to know will shortcut your road to success.
And then it struck me.
If you saw a child drowning in a river, would you jump in to save her? What if you saw her as she was getting ready to jump in the water? Would you warn her about how dangerous that water was? If you said, “OF COURSE,” then we’re on the same team — the team that wants to protect children and prevent them from potentially ruining their lives with drug or substance abuse.
Anybody that sells drugs that harm people is on the other team.
Make sense?
Are there other teams?
Nope. If you are trying to save the lives of users and addicts, then you are one of the medics working on the sidelines.
The Bottom Line
Let me see if I can bring this home for you.
The scoreboard tells us that last year the score was
- Alcohol-related deaths – 140,000
- Drug dose-related deaths – 107,000
- Driving under the influence deaths – 50,000
I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.
My next question is which team are you on?
If you’re up in the stands just watching, hoping for a good outcome, that won’t work. You are on one team or the other.
Several years ago I met a Native American man who told me about his tribe’s seven-generation plan. Every decision the tribal leaders made they considered what effect it would have on their people seven generations later. I had never considered this philosophy and it gave me a new perspective. How about you?
Listen, you don’t have to join me to do this work, there are plenty of things you can do to help all the children about to enter the river of life.
Years ago I produced a film called Who Will Cry for Our Children. It talks about how we can all make a difference in the lives of young people around us. I prepared a special link so you could watch it. Watch the SPECIAL EDITION.
Beyond Inspiration
During the Robins’ program, a speaker named Nick Santonastasso spoke. During that time, I was beyond inspired. Want to get inspired, watch the interview he did on the Ed Mylett Show.
I thought about all the tough things I went through in my life, they pale compared to what Nick has gone through.
Then near the end of his talk, he shared the pain of his brother’s death — another young man who died from a drug overdose. His pain is real and it bolstered my resolve. I recommend you Google his name.
April Update – Saving Our Children Update, Thought of the Week
Not only are we saving children, but we are also fighting for their opportunity to enjoy a full and productive life free from addiction or death.
