Eric's Song Graphic Novell will Reduce Adolescent Drug Deaths

Captivating Graphic Novel, “Eric’s Song,” A Strategy to Reduce Adolescent Drug Deaths

The Saving Our Children Campaign releases Eric’s Song a graphic novel.

According to award-winning author Tom Monson, “This is more than a graphic novel. We designed Eric’s Song to correct a dangerous misconception. Almost two out of every three high school students believe that using drugs is cool.”

Based on a true story, Eric’s Song tells about a teen who experiments with a dangerous drug and what happens to him.

The story begins with Eric and his friends, Andrew and Noah living their lives. At a basketball game, Katelyn, an attractive girl approaches them. She offers them a beer and asks if they want to check out a big party. At the party, she offers them a party favor which turns out to be methamphetamine. Noah and Andrew refuse but Eric smokes it. The rest of the story shows Eric’s decline as he transforms into a teenage drug addict. It shows how drugs can take over a life. As he continues his fall, he does things that he never would have thought of before to get drugs. As the story unfolds, he finds himself alone. This is a true-to-life story about drug addiction and readers learn the truth. The story shows how an addiction can destroy relationships.

Throughout the story, the author reminds the reader about the importance of choices. Readers learn the profound impact a single decision had on Eric, his family, and his friends.

And, according to Monson, “This will reduce adolescent drug deaths.”

Relatable characters and vivid visuals draw readers in to teach them why using drugs is not cool. Soon they understand the lasting consequences of an uninformed decision.

We also designed the story to spark discussion. Drug abuse is one of the major issues of our time, and it deserves attention.

Eric’s Song will serve as a valuable resource to educate the next generation that using drugs is not cool.

Using his over 30 years of research and experience, award-winning author and filmmaker, Tom Monson created this compelling story.

“They tell our kids that using drugs is Cool,” Monson said. “By the time a youngster reaches 18, they will have heard millions of messages promoting so. I wrote Eric’s Song to help kids understand that using drugs isn’t cool.”

Monson concluded, “It’s a simple equation you know; the more youngsters who read Eric’s Song, the fewer who will die.”

Eric’s Song is now available on Amazon and SavingOurChildrenCampaign.com.
